Small world. I believe I have in to mod this LPG posted damaged on ad-fi 3 years ago. It has turned into more than a mod link to LPG on ad-fiIt was repaired by a 'pro' with cheap unbranded tantalum caps. 1 missing ceramic cap, a damaged pad/track, several wonky ceramics. I almost sent it back as I could already see at least 1 damaged pad. Missing cap replaced, others tidied up, AVX tantalums removed. OPA1642 I/V Opamps removed, these are vssop package so I need to be creative installing soic 8 Muses8920 opamps (still on order for like forever from mouser) High end Kemet KO throughout and Audio Note caps. The unused lineout connector was removed to accommodate the AudioNotes. The LME49600 buffers are boosted with higher uf. They are double the height of the stock AVX LineOut relay removed for AudioNotes. The headphone out relay is removed and currently by passed but I may fit a new relay. More Kemet KO there, larger than stock AVX. New larger higher capacity battery pack made. I wish i'd have taken a before picture as this LPG was in a sorry state. Lots of dents, scrapes and scratches. It was filed sanded and primered. The internal frame was modified to accomodate the AudioNotes Several coats of paint and baked. Test fit back together, you can probably make out the removed opamp locations through the glass. A new replacement screen will be fitted too. Here you can see the the AudioNotes top and bottom fitting nicely. I'm still waiting on the opamps before I finish

Holy sht man!! Well done in soldering the legs of the OpAmp. Such tiny joints are a bitch to do so What did you use to attach the chip on the board ? I agree and I too βhateβ vssop package sighh ... like SOIC isnβt already small enough

I agree and I too βhateβ vssop package sighh ... like SOIC isnβt already small enough Cheers buddy. The soic-8 chip is flipped, so top is face down and I bent over pins 1 and 8. These line up with vssop pads 1 and 8 vssop. Also 2 negatives can anchor to the large open ground area. This secured the chip nicely. Rather than add extra length and thinner wire to the vssop pads I used thicker (silver plated copper kynar) straight to the caps.

Ready to return π I was waiting on some longer stainless steel screws as some were just spinning when I dismantled. I repaired a torn corner on the leather case and the re-dyed the worn red leather. Line out blocked off.

Hey NPAudio, just wondered if you've ever thought about modding an LPGT? And if so, what kind of mods do you think you might do?
