Using the M17 as I am writing this comment. A very impressive DAP indeed.
Might as well replace my Hugo 2+2Go.

Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Evening to everyone, as very happy new owner of the M17 (thank you very much, Steve, for guiding me!), I am thinking of making the M17s DC mode and all its tonal benefits, mobile. Therefore, I was looking for an appropriate outdoor solution. In one the historic Posts from Steve on the DX220 MAX, I found the link to a probably appropriate USB-C -> DC 5,5 x 2,1 cable ( CY Typ C USB-C Eingang zu DC 5.5 * 2.1mm . I am not absolutely sure, if it will work, as it is described as 18-20V, whereas the M17s DC input is defined as 12V only, probably this won’t matter ... ? To find an appropriate powerbank, was quite tricky, but at the end, I found the following one: Hama PD-27W60Specification: USB-C output 5V 3A/ 9V 3A/ 12 V 3A/14.5 V 3A/ 20 V 3A (PD 60W max.) So the 12V 3A for the M17 would be there ... but would the M17 be supplied with the correct power, as on the same output of the Powerbank also 20V could be provided ... Would this crash / damage my M17? Or is there some "handshake" between M17 and Powersupply (Powerbank) to "negotiate and agree" on the appropriate electrical power supply. I really love electricity and all its benefits, but I have no glue about the backgrounds…, so I would be very happy for your answers.

... topic solved ... I finally also placed the question in a parallel forum and it was answered by FIIO James directly: The only Powerbank I found, which might work and fit to the requirements (also to take it into planes ...): Krisdonia 25000 mAhbut it's dimensions are even bigger compared to the M17 ...

Starting to appreciate my M17 after a few hundred hours, was a bit underwhelmed and thought the sound was a bit too clinical and dry sounding.
a few hundred hours?, it probably has nearer 100.

When using iem's should I switch to variable line out instead of using fixed? Neither? you shouldn't be set to line out at all for iems or headphones. Line out is for connecting to an amp only

Thanks for the reply Steve. A reviewer said it's better to set to variable line out to get full benefit of the THX amplifier module when listening with headphones, as they reckon it gives better sound for some reason, thought I'd ask here.

No worries buddy, surely he could only mean a separate external THX amplifier? Setting it to Line Out will bypass the internal THX amplifier of the M17.
