We know it has R2R, Class A (probably Class A/B too and maybe Turbo) From the first pic above it already looked the same shape as the R8 which was good so why change it. They didn't change the R6 shape to do the RS6. Although it now looks rather bland in all grey, but it looks to be Titanium from what it says on fhe rear cover. Also noticeable on the rear cover is screws 😁👍 whitigir I hope that transfers over to the production model. As its still a flat back like the R8 then its easier to make thicker for e.g. double the battery capacity etc. Attachments:

Easier to craft larger battery LOL! it is about Damn time to deal away with this ridiculous Glued back already How about selling parts and supports when being modified ? How do they do

How do they do I'm sure it will share some design with the N8ii 😅 I have managed to buy Hiby parts in the past.
Looks like they have upped the SOC, RAM, ROM and battery too from the R8.
Qualcomm 665, 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM (Same as Shanling M9) 12000mah battery.

Look to be using opa1652 and class A output, this is similar to Ibasso dx300/320 stock module

From the first pic above it already looked the same shape as the R8 which was good so why change it. Agreed here. Hiby makes good shapes. It fits in the hand nice and is sturdy enough to use as a weapon in the case someone tries to snag it. They look cool but still blend in nice.

I had a chance to compare the RS8 with others. The RS8 & n8ii share similarities of larger soundstage than dx320 (maybe amp14 can help). The main difference was better holography within the expanded space. Other Ddaps are a bit less layered, or flatter, regardless of either distance or proximity.
I do not consider it similar to an LP6 because from memory the RS8 image is better and more lively. I do not consider it similar to the N8ii because n8ii is a bit boosted at the FR extremes. The dx320 managed to achieve almost similar resolve level, but not same level of soundstage as other two.
I do concede that the RS8 is probably the best DAP I have heard at this time. It was able to differentiate artificially expanded IIEs, like the Jewel, but also has presets to adjust any IEM to your liking. So hopefully this will give an idea for those interested.
Edit: Updated my dx320 Firmware to 2.04, which I tested (with amp12EXN-S) to show a bit increased soundtstage/holography, bringing it probably around 75% to the reference level of RS8. Both n8ii(tubes on) & RS8 are on similar larger soundstage level.

I had a chance to compare the RS8 with my dx320 with early amp12exn-s which had added films in PSU for slight boost in dynamics. The RS8 had less tonal signature, making my dx320 sound a touch darker, but that wasn't the point. The main difference was an increase in soundstage (in all directions) and holography within the expanded space. Where other daps would push their partially flat limited image either closer of further (to create fake soundstage), the RS8 simply filled in the increased space with holography, combined with a bit more resolve and noticably less colored. So to put a perspective, I would say a 25% increase of soundstage in all directions, combined with a similar increase in holography, and about a 4% more realism attained overall. I do not consider it similar to an LP6 because from memory the image noticably larger(taller and not laid back). I do not consider it similar to the N8ii because from memory that one was more tame and delicate. I would consider the RS8 not having any signature of laid back or polished or delicate or tame. Just a very immersive and alive sound. The dx320 to me is closest to that lively/alive aspect of its sound, but as stated with less size on my amp12. I do concede that the RS8 is the absolute best DAP I have heard, but also have observed it sounding artificially expanded when using IEMs with larger stage, like the Jewel. So hopefully this will give an idea for those interested. Edit: Updated my dx320 Firmware to 2.04, which I tested increased soundstage by about 15%, bringing it closer to the reference level of RS8. Seems like it’s a fantastic dap. Shame that it’s so expensive. Way beyond most people’s budget!

My friends thoughts...
*Well… I think my RS8 is dead…
It started with some light popping sounds on bit rate changes, which then became loud popping, and now has a click/pop/whoomph sound on play/pause and bitrate changes.
Looks like a combination of a hand modification and a burned component. :expressionless::nauseated_face::sob:
To me this screams of a factory hand modification made to the first run of boards, and in the process of the modification they damaged the device next to it. And that device has now failed.*
