NPAudio - Cowon Plenue S EXN Modification 20 ultra low ESR Kemet Tantalum Polymer 4 Audio Note Kaisei Bipolar Electrolytics 2 Vishay MKP1837 Metallized Polypropylene Film 1 5500mah Battery (Stock 4400mah) To allow for the larger battery the dock prong receptors are removed and the holes neatly filled with black electronics grade silicone. The stock chassis aluminium lip/battery stop is also removed.

So the modded unit arrived the other day and I got in about 1 hour of listening time with a Focal Radiance
Those audionote caps lean it more towards a british hifi sound with PRaT being more exact. Like right on, no more fuzz and it is more "square" hitting.
Definitely more spaced out and cleaner. Details are retained but just not in your face. More things feel like they are coming from further out than a closed (or even open) headphone should be capable of.
Perhaps the focus is leaned a little bit more on a snappier transient. I want to say it is a little more delicate or leaner, but A/Bing kind of disproves that. Def a tad more agile.
Directional sounds that previously sounded like a speaker turning on in a specific spot in space, now feel more natural.
Treble still retains the tizzy, sparkle, chime, sizzle that it should and is juuuuust smoothed enough to keep it from being too sharp.
There is a drop more bass and it is all around tighter and cleaner.
I know these caps will change over time but this is a great first indication.

Not for me to say an exact number, but for the new parts, swap outs, and light fabrication, it was very reasonable and worth it so far. I am also US based so the money conversion and shipping doesnt work in my favor but it is still worth it. |

NPAudio,you did it mate!!!! Soon will send mine for the mod. Best player I ever had. You told me to get it.  Burr Brown !!! Did you make a 4.4mm mod for the AK SP1000 or not yet. I saw you did for the SP1000M. My SP1000 gets no usage time compared to the PS. All the rest are gone. Sold them all and kept the two. Mine now will run only for 2-3 hours. Must arrange to send this asap. Tio
