I had the opportunity to audition this modded Plenue S and instantly fell in love with it. Couldnāt let it go so had to buy it! The original Plenue S was a great DAP but Steveās mods have certainly tightened the bass, increased the definition and widened the soundstage. This might be one of the older DAPs on the market but when itās modded to this standard youād have to go a long way to beat it!

Hello . I have a cowon plenue s. The screen does not work, it is black and there is a long crack. The buttons work, the sensor works (bottom) work, there is sound. I turned to head-fi.org for help. I was advised to ask here. I read that you fixed such a breakdown, it is not written how, but the review was good. What should be done in your opinion? Peel off and replace the screen, or is there a problem in the cable or something else? If you need a screen replacement, which model can you choose from? Sorry for my bad english.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that ā¹ļø Is the top touch screen glass cracked or the AMOLED screen underneath, the AMOLED will be dead if its black bit hopefully the touch screen is salvageable if its not cracked. The previous repair owner was lucky, I had a spare Plenue M2 screen I could use as both his touch and AMOLED were cracked. This requires carefully removing the glue from the frame attached to each screen and swapping the M2 glass into the S frame I do also have new Samsung AMOLED screens in stock. if your touch is intact it is possible altgough difficult to seperate cleanly the glued on touchscreen. Cowon are not selling spares at the moment so nothing can be ordered from them unfortunately. In short for the cleanest repair if you can find a used Plenue M2 cheap enough to be used as a donor, although a big waste as it's an excellent dap itself.

thank you very much. So, I now understand that the screens "m2" and "s" are the same, except for the frame. Another interesting thing is that Samsung is suitable for replacement, but you need to stick the original touchscreen on it. what screen are you using? you have a photo? What marking? do you have any markings from the original plenue s display or photo? I have some questions). There is very little information on the Internet, cowon, like A&K, are very closed. I tried to connect using a PC, but failed. but it was possible to connect to the calyx M screen. Sadly.

Yes Cowon use the exact same Samsung AMOLED screen in the following DAPs I've arranged them in the models that share the same touch screen digitiser glass shape.
Plenue M, Plenue 1 Plenue M2, Plenue S Plenue 2, Plenue 2 MKii, Plenue L Plenue R, Plenue R2
I have found some phone touchscreen digitisers with the same touch controller IC which should work but obviously no where near the correct shape.

I understand correctly that these plenuŠµs have one amoled screen, but the digitizer glass is different in shape? So they will work, but outside the case and not glued? From which phone can I use the screen to get an image, the touchscreen is not so important to me, because I do not use the equalizer or other settings, but I use the hardware buttons? thanks, sorry for my bad english.

The screen isn't from a phone but you can order on Ali etc. The 3.7" Samsung OLED LCD screen part number is AMS369FG06-0 You can plug this in and your display will work but if just using the hardware buttons you are very limited to what you can do. The kernel driver requires a digitiser with a Melfas MFS9A controller. The closest compatible glass digitiser I can find is from a Samsung J1 Mini. Its 4" but calibrated for the correct resolution. Obviously its never going fit your Plenue S but I may use one in an amp project chassis for some screenless plenue 2s I have. Can maybe get the home button to function as plenue circle button too.

Currently I have an S that i am loving. It plays extremely well with my Focal Radiance. I do have a few concerns.
1. The battery life is shortened to about 6 hours. I know battery life shortens with age but should i be concerned about this or are there replacement batteries?
2. The physical buttons sometimes need to be presses very precisely. Is this just age or signs of a button going bad? I had bad buttons on past cowons.
3. Sometimes the screen will unlock and start changing tracks etc when i am walking with the player in my pocket. Nothing else will be in my pocket and i dont wear anything too tight. Is this common? If i walk with my hand holding it in my pocket then i do not get these random unlocks.
