Right click on boot a Manage partition data Load image , navigate to the downloaded boot Done It depends which is your active partition slot. Partitions swap at each firmware update (this is both a convenience and safty mechanism. Convenient as you can use your phone/dap while it upgrades. Safe because if it went wrong it would still work from the none updated partition. Flashing both boot_a and boot_b will make sure or you can play safe and find your active slot from entering fastboot mode and the following command: fastboot getvar current-slot Or using fastboot enhanced (on this forum) it will show you in a gui

Does it mean that I should flash the active or the inactive partition ? What would happen on the next firmware update ? Will I need to root the N8ii again ?

Honestly, I donât think I would care much about new firmware upgrade from Cayin. Since rooting your own and configuring your rooted one the way you want is a lot more beneficials. Letâs be honest, when will Cayin toss in that MSEB for example ? đ

Can I get a explain it like I'm 5 walkthrough cause I can't figure any of this out. I can't even figure how to connect to a console session on your N8II via USB. Did everything up to that and now I have no clue WTF I'm doing. Never used commandshell in my life so I'm at a total loss.

Console session is just âusb plugged in with debugging enableDâ

Not a foolproof guide, but this more detailed steps by steps instructions should be pretty easy to follow. This is for windows PC Remember, after installing all usb drivers, and tools, restart your pc. drive.google.com/file/d/1Ax9mspV_dwud_3zvOviQ_B1oWjYzUdJz/view?usp=drivesdkWhy rooting your N8ii ? the way stock/unrooted configuration, the N8ii is more dedicated toward UI and execution of apps, boot up, be fast and responsive, rather than being dedicated to music. Rooting it, allow for a more in-depth controlling of this , and allow the users to scale it differently. One can scale for less heat, slower response but more battery life, and or scaling for all about music instead of other apps like me. Also, rooted allows a System Wide MSEB (similar to parametric EQ but easier to understand and tinker with, and is a systems Wide, not bound to a specific app) to uninstall bloat ware, you do not need to root

Darwin Settings enabled NOS option enabled Atmosphere Enhanced option enabled (definitely works) Harmonic Controller option enabled Possible to install Low pass filter names and custom filters Not had chance to plat with it. On actual RS6 I have a hard time hearing any changes so it will be difficult to know if anything works. I can say the Atmosphere Enhance option works and seems related to a low_shelf option which is actually disabled on the RS6. The presets for iems were there to start with but seemed to get wiped out when it was connected to the internet. They were just presets for the manual options anyway.

I can not wait to get a hold of it. We may have to tinker with the Vendor Module. Because the Vendor Module options for external filters may be disconnected to the whole OS. But the ROHM definitely allow customizable filters such as Darwin and NoS If Darwin selection override the Filters options provided by ROHM standard, then it definitely works

To enable Darwin on your N8ii You must first root it (all info, tools and files on this forum) Then edit the following file: /system/build.prop add the following lines to the end: ro.vendor.darwinsettings=yes ro.vendor.set_nos=yes ro.vendor.set_harmonic=yes ro.vendor.bass_boost=yes The following 2 lines are optional: (See note) vendor.audio.hw.low_shelf_enable=yes vendor.audio.hw.low_shelf_boost=20 Save and restart Note: On the Hiby RS6 the low shelf is off like this: vendor.audio.hw.low_shelf_enable=off But enabling it seems to be tied to the Atmosphere Enhanced option (ro.vendor.bass_boost=yes) and then enabling Atmosphere Enhanced gives a noticeable boost in the low end (track dependant) The new Darwin menu options will show up in settings next to Audio Settings Description: ro.vendor.darwinsettings=yes - Enables the Darwin menu option and filter options ro.vendor.set_nos=yes - Enables the NOS toggle option within the Darwin menu ro.vendor.set_harmonic=yes - Enables the Harmonic slider option with Darwin menu ro.vendor.bass_boost=yes - Enables the Atmosphere Enhanced option in Darwin menu Link to Joe Bloggs Darwin filter naming and custom filters www.head-fi.org/threads/hiby-rs6-android-dap-snapdragon-660-4-64gb-5%E2%80%9D-full-hd-darwin-r2r-fir-nos-mqa-16x-copper-chassis.958878/post-16715190On the RS6 I believe Darwin has little to no affect above 192khz - (from memory)

You can add the config from joe any time.
Once you enable darwin it crates the filter folder, filters will be there 1 to 10 (same as RS6)
its ootional to add joes but makes more sence than 1 - 10 đ

Oh I realized that this Darwin kinda overriding the one from ROHM defaults. Is there a way to turn off Darwin as an option instead than when enabling it, it is on constantly ? I know the Harmonic controller is working, subtles but it is working. Density changes up, vocals become smoother and more liquid at full or thinner and less liquid when at 0.
Can we customize a button or a slide that enable or disable Darwin as an option ? I know for a fact that when Darwin is turned on, there are more sibilants spikes depend on filters options. When I edited build prop and optioned No, it falls back to ROHM standard...ways better controls and less spikes.
**well, on a second take**. These stuff are too subtle. They are fancy to have, but the standard from ROHM is better imo, from 3 different filters from enabled Darwin. I donât think it is worth it, and I definitely donât hear the differences in NOS mode. I donât think this NOS mode works with ROHM
MSEB is a more useful features for sure
