I know it must be imposible but imagine having an option where you can choose high or low power mode, that would be nuts. The sound quality jump from FE to FE+ is awesome, but having such an impact on battery life is a con to consider if you travel a lot. nc8000 Charge the device message appeared at exactly 26 hours of playback. So a full charge with FE+ gives us between 27 and 29 hours of playback approx. That means with Battery Care activated we would get 23-24 hours of playback approx. So all in all a notable battery life impact is expected when using FE+. In my case, though I really appreciate the SQ jump I don't think I'll be using FE+ all the time, since I need more battery hours most time. In any case the posiblity of having such a sound quality in this device is awesome and very welcome.

MrWalkman has hinted that he might be able to create a fw that has both in one and selects based on the position of the lock slider at boot time which would be awesome if he could pull that off

After finiahing this, I will let the player player 16/44.1 files non stop, until the battery gets empty, as I'm curious how it looks like on the stock battery.

Lost my third battery bar after a further 5 hours and 1 day stand by so 21 hours play and 3 days stand by on 3 bars of battery so I expect to get to about 31-32 hours from the full battery with FE+ as opposed to about 40 hours on FE

What's your screen brightness? And do you delete music directly from the device from time to time?

Screen brightness is 1 with 30 second turn off, source direct, high gain at 50, all flac 16/44, BT disabled, battery care disabled atm so working from a 100% charge. The only thing I do is select an album and then play it end to end

FE+ is still only in private testing, correct? Saw some talk of it on headfi and came here to be sure I hadn’t missed a release.

One other quick question: how do I verify which tuning is installed? The bar goes to the end after I run the FE tuning firmware but there’s nothing in the unit settings menu that displays tuning info, correct?

DMP-WM1 FEv2 Update (January 22nd):- two boot modes: "Classic" and "Plus"; - all visualizations are now more in sync with the music; - when the player's battery is empty and it cannot turn on, you will see a charging battery imag on the screen when connecting the charging USB cable (instead of just a red LED on the side). - the Walkman logo shown at shutdown is also orange now. Boot modes:" Classic" - provides the normal DMP-WM1 FE sound signature; " Plus" - adds improved rendition of this sound signature (a more accurate and balanced sound, with better controlled bass, improved detail retrieval, better soundstage holography, more present mids), at the expense of additional battery usage. • The boot mode is selected by using the Hold button on the side of your player before you start the player - the "down" position of the hold button is for "Classic", while the "up" position is for "Plus" - for example leave the button in the "down" position while the player is starting, and it will start in the "Classic" mode. • You can check the current boot mode by going into the "Unit information" menu in Settings. • You don't have to do anything with the Hold button while installing the firmware. Just install the firmware and the external tuning, and after that you can use the Hold button as described above. You can find the firmware and additional info, here (please read all the info).

MrWalkman This is the pinnacle of this device and knowing you I'm afraid of saying this because I know you can come with something incredible to top this but I can't imagine that haha! It's so awesome to have this fw. I truly appreciate it man, seriously, thank you very much.
