The battery icon on my stock WM1A started flashing after 20 hours while playing music in the Plus mode. - Battery charged to 100% with Battery Care setting off - Direct Source on - High Gain - Sony Z7M2 connected to the balanced port at a volume of 75 (my usual listening volume under these circumstances). The songs being played are mostly 16/44 FLAC files, with one album being 24/44. I'm used the screen only to check how much battery is left. The point is about the Plus mode consuming more battery when playing music anyway, not about the screen. And how much did you used to get on just FE ? As I’ve posted I’ve dropped from 40 hours play time and 10 days stand by to a little over 30 hours play time and 7 days stand by on FE+ on a 100% charge and that mirrors what Frost and Gerelmex experiences as well

I was just curious how long will the battery last with FE+. I usually don't monitor in detail how long the battery lasts on a device. In case of my smartphone, for example, I just notice how much I usually have left at the end of the day. Anyway, "battery blinking after 20 hours" is still a lot better than "last bar after 8 hours" that gerelmx experienced. The first bar on my player lasted for almost 8.5 hours.

Not sure how many people here have the A55 (except nc8000), but an update with the same two boot modes will also come for this little player

DMP-300 FEv2 Update (January 29th):- two boot modes: "Classic" and "Plus"; - all visualizations are now more in sync with the music; - when the player's battery is empty and it cannot turn on, you will see a charging battery imag on the screen when connecting the charging USB cable (instead of just a red LED on the side). - the Walkman logo shown at shutdown is also orange now. Boot modes:" Classic" - provides the normal DMP-WM1 FE sound signature; " Plus" - adds improved rendition of this sound signature (a more accurate and balanced sound, with better controlled bass, improved detail retrieval, better soundstage holography, more present mids), at the expense of additional battery usage. • The boot mode is selected by using the Hold button on the side of your player before you start the player - the "down" position of the hold button is for "Classic", while the "up" position is for "Plus" - for example leave the button in the "down" position while the player is starting, and it will start in the "Classic" mode. • You can check the current boot mode by going into the "Unit information" menu in Settings. • You don't have to do anything with the Hold button while installing the firmware. Just install the firmware and the external tuning, and after that you can use the Hold button as described above. You can find the firmware and additional info, here (please read all the info).

What will be next ? Same mod for A50 FE, then finishing porting the A50 stock firmware to A40/A30 (so they also get BT Receiver/USB DAC and smoother interface while also keeping FM Radio and other stock functions), and I don't know after, I'll see In any case, don't think that "I'm waiting for the next update", but rather try enjoying what is already available for now.

As DMP-A50R FE needs some attention in regards to issues that some users are encountering, only DMP-A50 FE (stock based) gets the "v2" update at the moment.DMP-A50 FEv2 (an update for DMP-A50 FE)Update (January 31st):- two boot modes: "Classic" and "Plus"; - the USB DAC mode visualization is now more in sync with the music; - the Walkman logo shown at shutdown is also orange now. "Project Z" is a combination between the warm and analogue sound signature of the WM1Z and the holography, smoothness, and improved detail retrieval of the DMP-WM1 FE firmware mod.
It will also come with the two boot modes, same as the latest DMP-WM1 FEv2.

Project Z
A custom firmware for the WM1A/WM1Z players, combining sound characteristics of the WM1Z and DMP-Z1 sound signatures. Features: - a lushy warm, organic, analogue sound signature, with harshless highs, improved detail retrieval, full and balanced sound, and with an airy and holographic presentation (especially in the Plus mode) - characteristics of both the WM1Z and DMP-Z1 sound signatures; - two boot modes: "Classic" and "Plus"; - native DSD playback over the 3.5 mm output; - DSEE AI (present on DMP-Z1); - visualizations in sync with the music; - progressive JPEG and interlaced PNG album covers are supported; - showing a battery "charging/needs charging" image when the player cannot turn on anymore if the battery is too low. Boot modes: "Classic" - provides the normal Project Z sound signature; "Plus" - adds improved rendition of this sound signature (a more accurate and balanced sound, with better controlled bass, improved detail retrieval, better soundstage holography, more present mids), at the expense of additional battery usage. Pretty sure this is the only question I ask anymore 😂 A mini-1Z sounds like my kinda thing.
