About 75% of my library is rips of my about 2.500 cd’s that I have bought over the last 35-40 years. About 5% are vi yl rips (either from the internet or my own lp’s). The remaining 20% are hires abd dsd downloads bought online. And while the hires generally sound best I’m perfectly happy with my cd rips that sound really good on all my gear. I would say my gear is decent and while I have a little hearing damage on one ear from an explosion in my youth I would say I’ve got fairly decent hearing I have no issues with people that enjoy CD's, I was just pointing out the people that claim there is no difference between mp3s and High Res tracks. And believe me, they have argued with me about that one too many times, like really.

We all know the real debate is is there any difference between 96/24 vs 192/24 Personally just bought several Joni Mitchell albums at 96/24 since I'm not seeing enough evidence anyone notices the difference going any higher. I imagine that quality + a Nayparm modded 1A will be more than enough to give me more than I ever heard out of my smartphone.

On my 1A and my 2 channel speakers.....yes I can hear the difference between 24/96 and 24/192 24/192 usually has a blacker background, and has smoother edges to the sound, the higher resolution, to my ears helps with separation in general. It would be interesting to setup an experiment for my non "Audiophile" friends, quite a few of them are professional musicians. So, I am going to have to get back on this one.

For the next update (work in progress) I plan on having a .ini settings file where we can set certain things: - choosing the region
- choosing if we want Plus mode to be used as default (without using the Hold key)
- choosing between the existent Plus mode and a new Plus mode
- choosing to use a slightly higher gain mode (this was available with the old ++ mod)
- choosing to have any region but also have the remote option, which is only available with the J/E/one more regions (theoretically it's possible, but we shall see)
- choosing if you'd like to not load some additional files during the DAC initialization, for an additional way to change the sound signature (this was done for the WM1A/Z+ and ++ mods)
- the ability to choose the color of some icons in the interface (this is already available in the firmware, it's just not used)
With all these options there will be several ways you could have the sound of the 1A/Z set: Yes, the FEv2 / Project Z tuning will also be available next to the Dawn / Midnight ones.

There will also be a little boot log file, where you can check if everything set here is being read correctly from the file every time you start the device. pastebin.com/3sGJ3XsR

All seems good for now. Still some testing to do first.

All seems good for now. Still some testing to do first. Will there be sound differences compared to earlier fw or is this pure feature based ?

It's basically the same as Midnight/Dawn v1, but you can use the Project Z/FEv2 tuning if you want, and you can do some changes related to the sound via the settings file as well.

The legend MrWalkman is with us again. Thank you very much buddy. I'm still rockin the **** out of my modded 1Z with DMP-WM1 FE (Classic) paired with the JM Gjallarhorns. As I stated a long time ago it's the pinnacle of sound for me, it's the closest thing to what my brain perceives as perfection. Hope everybody is ok around here!

I need to try that. If it manages to make the FE (Classic) better I'm sold.
