After installing the FE fw on my A55 I'm now back diwn to 12 hours play time and 3 days stand by on a 100% charge of the battery. On the R fw (after battery recalibration) I got 25-30 hours play time and a weeks stand by

I also got a battery glitch with FE fw. I installed it yesterday and today my battery went from 3 bars to 1 after I restarted. Then after an hour or so the battery went to two bars haha. I don't know if it's fw related though...

I don't think it's FW related, I have absolutely no issues with my WM1A.
You could try using the player until the device can't turn on anymore, and then leave it charging with the Battery Care setting off. While it's charging, don't use it. This should help recalibrating the battery.

I was wondering if the complete factory reset that is part of the installation messes with the battery calibration. I ran the A55 all the way down and have charged it to 100% so will se if that gets the battery back to 25-30 hours. So far it has played 6 hours and not lost a bar

I’m now at 14 hours and still have all 4 bars so the recalibration has worked so it really does seem that the installation of these fw, at least on the A55, messes with battery calibration and a full discharge followed by a full charge is needed after installation. It feels like what the charge of the battery is at the time of installation becomes the new max until a recalibration has been performed

MrWalkman Definitely a battery calibration problem after the install. After draining the battery completely and fully charging the device no more crazy bar jumps . There is another problem though. Today I was testing the Native DSD through 3.5mm and I noticed an artifact in every single DSD track. It's specially noticeable when there is silence. It's a "wobbling artificial water" kind of noise. Anyone else experiencing this? I easily heard it with Rachel Podger's Vivaldi 4 Stagioni. I tested with three different headphones and I heard it with all of them.

Well, maybe they disabled native DSD over 3.5 for a reason. I only hear a small click when changing tracks.

I'm re-testing and I confirm there are sound artifacts specially discernible in silent passages. I'm hearing the click you mention too. Unchecking Native DSD option solves everything for 3.5mm, so it's not a problem unless you switch between balanced (4.4mm) and unbalanced (3.5mm) often.

It's funny because it's only listenable in some DSD tracks. I'm listening to Patricia Barber's Cafe Blue and no artifacts except for the click in the whole album. Same with Bitches Brew SACD, but Vivaldi's L'Estro Armonico from NativeDSD has the artifact sound all over the place. Same with Mahler's Symphony no.9 from NativeDSD aswell. It seems all of NativeDSD.com albums are affected, but SACD music is fine.

Unchecking Native DSD means that the DSD will be converted to PCM, like before.

Unchecking Native DSD means that the DSD will be converted to PCM, like before. I know I know, but I had to point that out to rule out other problems.

As far as I know, there are two DSD formats, DSF and another, maybe with one you hear those artifacts, and with the other you're not.

All my DSD files are DSF, since the other DSD format, DFF, can't hold metadata and I'm a tag obsessed person haha. It's really weird, the fact that it only happens with certain DSF files and not others...
