Back to give more impressions of my WM1Z Romi Audio Blackgate/NPAudio combo mod after 350+ hours with the MrWalkman DMP-WM1 FE 3.02 (J) firmware. Hard to believe that it could sound even better as I've read that the BG caps can benefit from 1000+ hours of burn-in! Man my WM1Z is sounding killer now for sure. Here's something else...I picked up a Lotoo PAW Gold Touch Titanium for nostalgia's sake. I like both the Sony OS and Lotoo OS so I couldn't resist. This was one expensive ride guys but here's my brief comparison of the two. It seems the sound from my WM1Z has gotten more "reference" with the added touch of warmth typical of the Sony DAPs. I have DSD, 24/192 FLAC, ALAC and a few MP3 files and they all sound fantastic on the WM1Z. I find that it even makes even not so great recordings sound good. Clarity and separation are through the roof. Excellent battery life at 40+ hours and I find myself using the 3.5mm out just as much as the 4.4mm out surely due to the Nayparm mod.
The LPGT Ti on the other hand is all about studio-quality reference and clarity. The EQ settings are endless but if you have lots of bad recordings you don't want this DAP. It's beautiful and well-built but very revealing. It's 4.4mm out is so highly resolving that some recordings actually sound better on its 3.5mm out. It lacks the warmth of the Sonys but adds more power to drive some larger cans. Still burning it in but I'd say it's a more "analytical" sounding DAP. Battery life leaves me wanting more at 10 hours but Lotoo did a great job again.
I love these two TOTL DAPs...I'm keeping both. It's like a one, two punch depending on my mood. The ultimate question if I had to chose one? I'd choose my WM1Z mod hands down without looking back! Much credit to Nayparm and MrWalkman. Now I can focus on some TOTL IEMs for the arsenal.

Wow, thanks for taking the time to report back on your Supercharged 1Z and with a comparison with one of the most respected and expensive DAPs out. Great for anyone considering an LPGT Ti or Sony mod as you paid out a lot of your hard earned to get where you are. No free DAPs for a fake opinion here. Once you burn in your LPGT Ti it would be great to get a review on this forum, I'll help with the template of the post etc 👍

Well Sony recommends warming up your caps for at least 200 hours.

Well Sony recommends warming up your caps for at least 200 hours. Ah burn-in. The replaced caps seem to require less than that

Hey there,
First of all thank you for everything you all shared. I'm planning on modding mine and have a few questions if you don't mind.
- Can I replace POLAR by NON POLAR Kaisei capacitors? I'm looking for 16v 100uF but it's out of stock - Using 25v 100uF Audio Note Standard instead would be a nice alternative?
Thanks !

Hi buddy, yes bipolar can replace polar no problem as long as it will physically fit. Yes also to 25v 100uf AN standard as a good alernative. Nichicon finegold are great too. The finegold tend to be the same size as the equivalent value audionote kaisei.

Thanks!! I’ll source everything and share with you what I could mimic and adapt in my mod! Are the kemet caps mandatory or can I directly wire the big caps directly? I cannot order less than 500 units
