I would like to express my deep respect to Steve for his enormous contribution to the development of our walkman. Super mod, and even supports the development of the firmware, sending mrwalkman its modified player.

Super mod, and even supports the development of the firmware, sending mrwalkman its modified player. We can't have the one and only firmware developer for the WM1 having no WM1 now can we. He has been the best thing that has happened for the WM1 and it's users. Working countless hours on improving sound and features in each release, making them easy to install/remove and freely available for everyone. p.s. not just for the WM1 either, also for ZX300, NW-A50, NW-A40, NW-A30 users, oh and support them all too.

I'm currently waiting for it, and I'm really curious about the sound

Glad to hear MrWalkman is getting back a WM1A. And it's funny thinking you've been making all those firmware mods and have yet to hear what they sound like on a WM1Z, or even better, a modded WM1A. Who knows how this will influence future firmware updates

Today I got my 1A Steve mod While it's warming up, but according to first impressions there is a wow effect The instruments are more divided, the stage is wider and deeper, the vocals are just wow, I have to listen further, but I'm already delighted.

Guys I just wanted to share my work so far. Thanks Nayparm for what you’ve done and share. So kind of you to have me sent the kemets! I’m truly thinking on how I can credit you inside the DAP haha maybe leave a « mod design by Nayparm » somewhere. It’s the first time since college that I solder something (20 years ago). I hope you don’t mind if it’s not clean and I hope I didn’t overheated stuff . Desoldering was horrible. I don’t know what they used as solder but it’s a PITA to remove all the capacitors. I bought an smd station for it but I didn’t manage to de solder with it plus I was too scared to destroy the surrounding components.

Great stuff In answer to your.pm questions The green enamel is scrped off near the sony logo to reveal cthe copper ground so you can soldeer the negative leg there or just take it down to the negative pad. Kemet orientation The sloping edges are positive + and face toward the bottom of the dap. The flat edges are negative - and face towards the top of the dap.

This is my last request before seeing if everything is working. Do I use the original battery pcb and do I connect every wires to the board? Thanks! I also have a 100k resistor

Hey buddy, yes keep the pcb and scrap the white wire. Just use Red + and black - Solder the 100k resistor between ground and T (Thermistor point) circled in red below.

Hey Naypram, can I ask, what specific model of the Kemet KO caps are you using?

Okkayyyyy I think I fricked up with the 3.5 plug but anyway I wasn’t going to use it. On the 4.4 plug there is a lot of background noise there, left side appears louder than right.
I’ll leave it burning to see what happens :/
For the kemets it’s specified in the previous post if I remember clearly
