Well, the charge the device message appeared at the 34 hours mark approx of flac playback, which means the battery would have lasted until the 38 hr mark approx if I had kept using it. I'm going back to Stock 3.02 to test the battery performance there.

3rd bar gave 7 hours play time and another 2 days standby. So 3 bars has given 27 hours play time and 6 days stand by with source direct playing 16/44 flac on 50 high gain and screen on 1 Well, my device seems to be following yours now. I just lost the 3rd bar after 7 hours of play time and 1 day standby. That means I got 24 hours and 4 and a half days of standby by now. I'll report back when the 'Charge the device' message prompts, but I feel I'm going to have between 33 and 38 hours this time, so I'll try something different in the next run. Now 40 hours play time and 8 days stand by and the last bar has not started flashing yet

Edit: never mind, I saw your siganture. mmm, If you reach 46 hours without flashing I would be quite surprised, because that would be inside the expected playtime range. I'm on the stock 3.02 run now, so I'll see what I get.

Was flashing when I started listening tonight and shut down after 2 hours playing so a 100% charge gave me 42 hours play time and 9 days stand by which is roughly double what I used to get on a 90% charge on the stock battery with stock 3.02 fw. So first and fourth bar each give 14-15 hours play time while second and third bar each give 6-7 hours

Will keep reporting.

And I just lost the second bar after 6 hours of playback and 1 day standby. So I conclude the battery read problem is not fw related. Numbers are exactly the same, which is weird... really weird. I now wonder if I have done something wrong while calibrating it... Anyway, MrWalkman, you have earned the promised beer! The sound of the FE fw is undoubtely endgame for me.

I can’t see that you have done anything wrong since your numbers are close to what I get and the same pattern with the first and fourth bar lasting longer than the second and third bar also happens on my A55 and as I remember did on the A45 when I had that

I'll let the battery go to 0 on FE fw and I'll see what I get. Btw, I just got the FatBear case and it's amazing. I love how Premium it looks with the golden color of the 1Z. The modded unit fits perfectly, so I think it's the perfect match!

IMO, without the latest "FE" Firmware, the ibasso 220Max would outperform the stock 1z in the trebles and height area.
With the firmware mod, the Sony is on par in height and quality, with more depth. This comparison of different units really makes one realize the boost that the FE firmware brings. It becomes spooky in holography depth, but darker in shade of Tonality, like chocolate to vanilla. Complex passages are great but still slight blur in distance, which I feel is cause for hardware modding. Otherwise just an addicting sound because of the "life" of the body of the image, almost like more things are moving in the music.
So IMO only, iBasso 220Max needs hardware modding to gain Sony depths. Yet, the Sony needs FE Firmware to sound as large in height, and gain more depths, then Sony needs hardware modding to gain final clarity of the iBasso 220Max in complex depths. This is only noticable in direct compassions.
I do not consider any newcomer units yet (like SE200 I heard, or M8) to be completely on par at this level, although they do come close, and into the "reference" quality level of these units.

I really appreciate it, man! It's the same for me, it's just so perfect and awesome, at least for my ears. I've just got to say, these FE firmware mods have turned these players into what they should be for me. I've read soo much about how good the 1A and 300 are but couldn't help being disappointed the first time I listened to them and felt like someone had pulled the wool over my eyes and sold me a false review. The whole "wide, tall and deep soundstage" stuff always felt like snake-oil to me, even though I understood why people used those words to describe what they could hear. To me, these players felt like they were applying some sort of artificial veil or filtering like adding effects to a guitar; all it does is mask the sounds you're trying to listen to. Thankfully, this veil is completely gone now. The FE FW mods are night and day to the stock FW. I prefer the holographic sound signature vs an open/airy soundstage that sounds like someone's just turned the reverb dial up to 11. Props to you MrWalkman, these mods are incredible. They've also closed the gap between the 1A and 300 to the point I can't tell a difference in resolution anymore, I can only pick out the 1A because of it's more neutral sound signature. This has basically turned the 300 into a pocketable 1Z for a fraction of the cost. I'm definitely gonna have to throw a couple of beers your way, you deserve it!! Are there any other plans with the frimware? Such as OS optimisations, improvements to battery life or additional EQ options? I'd happily financially support any ongoing updates to these devices if it was a money/time issue too. I guess it boils down to whether anything can be improved? Are these FW mods completely rewritten and standalone? Or do they use stock firmware with small add-ons and tuning patches? Keep up the top notch work! I'm excited to see if there's anything else in the works!!
