If you guys ever get a chance, try swapping your battery stranded cables for 26 gauge Solid Silver/Gold cables. Really brings out stage depth, and life like tonality of instruments. I had a buddy of mine listen to the modded 1A last night, he is a music producer....and to put it mildly... he was floored by the quality of the sound. I will be modding a 1A for him as well Still on the Dawn Version 3.....I am looking forward to comparing this to the new players that Sony has released. The new players are a no go for me because of the Android software, but I am still looking to see for myself how much of a leap they have taken compared to the Tricked out 1A. Dawn Version 3? I thought 2.1 was the last haha

I did some testing to figure out the exact conditions in which the "higher gain" option in the settings file works, and the conclusion is:
- The "higher gain" option (available for WM1A/Z and ZX300) in the settings file works for both the balanced and single-ended ports, even if Direct Source is not active, but only while "High Gain" is not active in the player's settings.
My opinion is that this option can still be useful to have, as it can provide higher gain without engaging the high gain circuitry in the player.

Sorry another question, how do I use the WM1A sound signature with different regions as it seems to default to WM1Z.

Read the included instructions and follow them Thanks for your help, most appreciated. Edit the settings.txt file in the cfw folder in the internal memory and then restart the player. If you changed to a different tuning you then have to run the tuning installer in the cfw folder which will restart the player again

I'm sure he will post as soon as there is any news. He has much less free time than before when he was churning out updates faster than we could install them 😂. He has since moved back to his home country and working full time.

Someone on Github worked on a low latency USB DAC mode for the ZX300. I've tested this on my A45, and it works fine, but it wasn't working on the WM1A/Z. I've managed to compile it for the WM1A/Z too, and it works fine, so it will be available in the next Walkman One update. It basically makes movies watchable, and stuff like games, playable, as the latency becomes low enough to not be noticed, which is really amazing! NPAudio, thanks again man, without your generous help it would've been much harder to work on stuff for the WM1A/Z.

I mean I'm pretty damned happy with what MrWalkman has achieved already. I don't want new firmware for the sake of it, there has to be a use case or a reason. MrWalkman has done more for the ZX300/1A/1Z lineup than Sony has. It'll arrive when it arrives.
