NPAudio Do you recommend activating the "Charge only to 90%" option in the device after the mod is done? I would let it run down to 1 bar and then charge it full once on your WM1 to calibrate with your WM1 before activating the 90% feature. I would also recommend a smart charger that will stop charging when full. Any smart charger recommendation with an European plug? I've been searching for 30 minutes and so far no luck.

I thought the player would automatically stop charging when the battery is full, I always understood that the device being charged ask for power, not that the charger pushes power to the device

Thank you very much NPAudio! Last battery question. How long does a full charge of the 4100mh battery take?

nc8000 or anyone with a modded battery. Do you remember how long it took your modded 1Z unit to fully charge? I'm getting a count down timer with fixed numbers and I need to know if 8 or 10 hours would suffice. Thanks in advance

I waited until the device asked for a charge. The first load lasted 54hr; I played, 92%FLAC, 5% Higher rated FLAC and 3%DSD, which is amazing. I'll post the total charge time aproximation once I see the FULL icon.

Thank you very much NPAudio ! Last battery question. How long does a full charge of the 4100mh battery take? I think from flat it's about 7 or 8 hours using the DAP (it uses 1 amp to charge) I've pre charged the batteries on my external programmable charger as that takes 3.5 hours and can do several at once (programmed to use 2amp which is just below the maximum recomended for 4100mah)

Alright, from the "charge the device" message to full charge it took 7 hours and 30 minutes approximately. I'm actually quite surprised, since it took way less than I would have guessed. Stock battery used to take 5 hours to fully charge, and given this one doubles it in cappacity... I don't understand how battery charge times work but I guess there must be an explanation.

On lithium batteries the voltage is measured to dictate how full it is. 4.2v meaning full and about 3.2v to say empty. 3.7V is the Nominal voltatge. When charging, as it passed 3.7v and approaches 4.2v the amps drop and so the charging speed drops for the final few volts/capacity. Simply put I suppose 0 to 90% charges at a much faster rate than the final slow 10%.

Ok, more numbers guys. With 'Battery care' activated it took 7 hours and 5 minutes aprox to fully charge the 1Z from "Charge the device" message. Given the small difference (25 minutes) in charge times and knowing my timer will stop the charge at 8 hours I'm thinking of leaving 'Battery Care' unchecked. Is battery life really improved by 'Battery care'? What do you think guys?

OK so I opened rcoleman1 WM1Z Romi Audio mod, ready for tomorrow. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. It will be difficult to try and keep all the black gates whilst trying to improve things. AudioNotes are so much bigger and hardly any room as it is. I will need to desolder and remove most of what you see to get the board out.

Hells bells! Romi mod made the board look like a nuclear plant. I like it haha!

Romi new battery is a fair bit smaller physically and a slightly smaller capacity at 1800mah as opposed to 1860mah. Sony board has been transferred to it. Single ended caps are stock as are 2 of the power caps. The 2 x stock 47uf where replaced with 2 x 10uf 16v Black Gate cluster is 2 lots of 5 220uf 4v together and those two in serial (so 2 lots of 4v 1100uf which will increase voltage rating to 8v but reduce the capacitance to 550uf) Its boosting the Super Cap. The Super Cap package used by Sony is 2 units in series inside one package (hence the 3 terminals Plus, Balanced, Minus) I may just add another super cap instead of black gates seen as the copper plate is missing anyway. Most of it removed now, so I can start planning. p.s. no shielding/copper tape on anything but the battery.
